Support to Screening – Cervical

Overview

This service only accepts cervical screening referrals from general practice. Breast and bowel screening referrals are managed through national screening services.

This is a new pilot service in Tairawhiti offering targeted support to priority group people (PGP) to access all three cancer screening programmes: Breast, Bowel and Cervical.

The purpose of this service is to increase the number of un- and under-screened people, in particular Māori and Pacific people, who are screened for breast, bowel, and cervical cancer, by removing barriers to access and providing culturally safe, flexible and mobile support.

Cervical screening: When practices have completed all recalls and have still been unable to contact priority group people who are overdue for cervical screening, they can refer to this free service. The support to screening provider will then offer targeted follow-up, community outreach, and wraparound support to help people access the screening they need.

This is a referral service ONLY. It is not a claimable service.

This is NOT a clinical guideline.
